Bug#269493: Hi

2007-11-21 Thread Elena
Hello,

My name is Elena, I have 30-years and I live in small city in Russian province.

I have 6-years daughter, her father abandoned us and we live with my mother.
Recently my mother lost job due to old age and our situation became very
difficult.

Prices for gas and electricity became very high in the last months and we
cannot use it to heat our home anymore.

The winter is coming and temperature is very cold here already. We do not know
what to do and we very afraid.

The only way to heat our home it is to use portable wood burning stove which
give heat with burning wood. We have a lot of wood in our region, therefore
this way is very good for us and it will heat our home the whole winter with
minimal charges.

I work in library and after my job I allowed to use computer. I finded your
address in internet and may be you can help us.

We need portable wood burning stove, but we cannot buy it in our local market
because my salary is very small. May be you have any used stove and you don't
use anymore, then we will be very grateful to you if you can donate its to us
and organize transport of its to our address. We live in central part of
Russia, about 200km from Moscow.

I would like to send you picture of us, but unfortunately I don't have digital
picture which can be transmited by computer.

I send you best wishes from Russia.

Elena.

For the package I reported this for I can't check, because the watchfile is
outdated at the moment and I haven't reuploaded it with the fixed file
(because it's the only change a.t.m.). Although it did work when I tested
just the changed function locally.

I'm not entirely sure about the egroupware package that the other half of this
bug referred to.

Still, a part of the bug here could still be addressed. What is needed is to
scan for a dash from the end of the version string, and separate it there
into 'debian revision' and 'upstream'.

E.g. this version number:
1.4.6-20060409-1
should be split in upstream '1.4.6-20060409' and debian '1'.

I would change dsfg to dfsg :-)

But for the rest... I've just reimplemented the function. The epoch- and
Debian version parts are actually quite easy: just find the first : from
the start or the first - from the end, and trim that off. I've therefore
chosen to keep that outside of the regexes but just do that by string
matching.

Then I close off with the regex for dfsg-like strings, which is therefore less
complex.

// Try to extract just the upstream version from the full version number.
function vers_conv($debvers) {
// Strip off the epoch
$pos = strpos($debvers, ':');
if ( $pos !== FALSE) {
$debvers = substr($debvers, $pos+1);
}

// strip off the Debian revision (look from the back of the string)
$pos = strrpos($debvers, '-');
if ( $pos !== FALSE) {
$debvers = substr($debvers, 0, $pos);
}

// strip off repacking indicators
$debvers = preg_replace(/[.+]?(ds|dfsg|debian)(.*)/i, , $debvers);

return $debvers;
}

I hope this helps. If you have a source control repository of dehs I can
probably supply it as a patch against that.

Bug#269493: regex for debian version

 How do u suggest to modify regular expression?
Well, the revision should be an integer. But (I think) it's best to
not try to match it at all; is it needed for something?

Untested:
LC_ALL=C
/^(([0-9]+):)?([a-zA-Z0-9.+:-]+)(-([a-zA-Z0-9.+]+))?$/ || die
debianrevision=$2 # or unset
upstreamver=$3
debianrev=$5 # or unset

This is simpler without splitting out the revision.

Sorry for dsfg typo in regex, the Dehs version control code is on
svn.debian.org.

I attend the Justin and Thijs agree on a common patch to this function.
Please consider the debian general packages number situation and user
cases and not only packages that you maintain :)

Bug#269493: qa.debian.org: version comparison also fails with extra dashes

2005-11-07 Thread Russ Allbery
Package: qa.debian.org
Followup-For: Bug #269493

The current version comparison for the watch code also fails when the
upstream version contains a dash because it terminates the Debian version
at the first dash.  See:

http://dehs.alioth.debian.org/maintainer.php?name=libauthen-sasl-cyrus-perl
http://qa.debian.org/[EMAIL PROTECTED]

I think the best way to modify the code to deal with this issue would be
to have it strip off everything after the final dash first and then
continue on comparing the entire remaining version number. Right now, it
grabs everything before the first dash, which doesn't work for this case.
