I'm using an nVidia GeForce4 on a Debian Testing box, running
# uname -a
Linux LaLagunaX 2.6.9 #1 Sun Nov 7 16:56:23 WET 2004 i686 GNU/Linux
I'm using the X driver provided by nvidia: 
NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6629-pkg1.run
