I found the setting that causes this behaviour to happen.

It happens if grp:shifts_toggle is used in /etc/X11/xorg.conf to switch between
keymaps (at least when using en,il keymaps option). When using a different
groups switching method behaviour is fine.

  As you described, it works here. Can you detail the exact steps to
reproduce it? also the kind of folder/account, and any particular setup you
may have.

I can no longer mark and delete a group of messages. ie pressing shift
and the arrows to mark a group of messages and then delete to delete
them just jumps to the first message in the folder, leaves the marked
messages as marked, but does nothing else. This worked before and
wouldn't be so annoying if it was possible to delete a whole thread at a
time.
