Bug#300231: O: libghttp -- original GNOME HTTP client library - run-time kit
clone 300231 -1 reassign -1 grip retitle -1 grip: please remove libghttp from your build-dep (you don't link with it, so it's probably useless) severity -1 serious clone 300231 -2 reassign -2 orpheus retitle -2 orpheus: please remove libghttp from your build-dep (you don't link with it, so it's probably useless) severity -2 serious thanks Hi, libghttp has been orphaned since 2005. It would be great to get rid of it, but some packages are still using it: * digitaldj (dep on libghttp): could probably be removed. we already have a lot of MP3 players in the archive. * grip (b-dep on libghttp): build-depends on libghttp, doesn't link with it. (bug filed) * orpheus (b-dep on libghttp): same as grip: b-dep, but binary package doesn't dep on libghttp * libhttp-ghttp-perl (dep on libghttp): low popcon. could probably be removed. * telegnome (dep on libghttp): hasn't been updated upstream since 2000. could be removed? Well, it still has some users (according to popcon some 90 have it installed) and there doesn't seem a lot wrong with it. Any comments? You want to get rid of libghttp because of it being a qa-maitaince burden? grts Tim -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Note that it also depends on libgtk1.2, so it will probably be considered for removal because of that too, sooner or later. Any comments? You want to get rid of libghttp because of it being a qa-maitaince burden? Because it has been orphaned for 2+ years and that nobody is taking care of it. Would you be willing to adopt it? -- | Lucas Nussbaum | [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.lucas-nussbaum.net/ | | jabber: [EMAIL PROTECTED] GPG: 1024D/023B3F4F | -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. I could live with telegnome being removed. Unfortunately there's no replacement as far as I know (there are several tools in Debian that can display Teletext given a TV card, but none that claim to download it from the Internet), but, well, we might just have to cope with that.
