What's involved in making a 2.4-compatible package? What are the
differences between the two?

I am asking because I am trying to figure out what to do:

  1. provide two conflicting packages (bad).
  2. provide davfs2-kernel2.4, which diverts the necessary stuff 
     in the davfs2 module (okay)
  3. make davfs2 install both and provide a wrapper which does the 
     appropriate thing according to the kernel version (preferred).

What do you think?
