I did reproduce the issue with KDE, but only under certain circumstances.

Works well here.

I plan to make a quick first upload tomorrow with this changes:

+ Use 'find | xargs rm 'instead of 'rm *' to remove .desktop files.
  packages installed. (Closes: #297322)

+ Set to /var/lib/menu-xdg/applications to avoid duplicate
  menu entries. (Closes: #328055, #317567, #324545)

I plan to make a second upload with more changes.

Also I have set up a test box, and I can only reproduce the bug with
GNOME, so I wonder if this is really a bug in menu-xdg, but the fix
work.

Anyway, I have put the package at
http://people.debian.org/~ballombe/menu-xdg.

I will upload them tomorrow afternoon UTC.

Cheers,

I would ignore that second patch, since 1) Ubuntu doesn't use it, and they
seem happy, and 2) the submitter of the patch may just be implementing the
same patch a different way - note that the actual fix from Ubuntu did
modify _two_ files, and the submitter of the second patch may just have
missed that fact by only reading the bug report (since Sam Morris only
mentioned one file in his post), and not by looking at my patch (which
includes the full two file fix from Ubuntu).

Do you plan to include any of my other fixes from #305761? Just curious.

I believe it does; for a while I ran a patched menu-xdg with KDE and I don't
recall it causing any issues. To be safe, you could send me a link to your
package, and I could quickly test it again before you upload.

Cheers,
Christopher Martin

Hello Christopher (Martin),

Would help me to fix menu-xdg bug 317567,324545,328055 ?
You send a patch to 305761, but I am a bit confused by the
second patch in bug #317567.

What is the correct fix ? Will that work with both GNOME
and KDE ?

Chris, I plan to NMU this package soon, I hope you don't mind.

Cheers,
