 What does file say about it?  If it's a version 3 rar file then you're
 just out of luck for now, I'm afraid.  At the moment, nothing but the
 non-free unrar can unpack v 3 rar files.  Upstream is working on it, and
 expects to have a functional v 3 rar module for 0.90, but that is some
 ways off yet.

the same error on rar v2 files...

Antivirus scan failed on a RAR file if I download it with browser
through squid/dansguardian
antivirus.
I get this message if I edit the downloaded RAR file:
