Hi Brian,

how about that one?

1. I'm not able any more the directly convert your document using "xmlto
ps..." as it always complains about missing passivetex. According to my
knowledge there is passivetex still in Debian, but no passivetex command
or package. This has been reported: #797052.

2. Regarding the work flow below: I'm still able to reproduce it,
although I get a different error message.

Are you still interested in having this issue solved? If yes I'd find
out, where the bug is located (I guess xmltex is correct as you found
out) and then report @upstream.

Bug#310148: diary.docbook

2005-07-05 Thread Brian May
reassign 310148 xmltex
thanks

Hello,

I think this bug is a problem with xmltex, my understanding is that
the following should work:

--- cut ---
[596] [snoopy:bam] /tmp xmlto fo diary2.docbook
Making portrait pages on USletter paper (8.5inx11in)

[597] [snoopy:bam] /tmp pdfxmltex diary2.fo
This is pdfTeX, Version 3.14159-1.10b (Web2C 7.4.5)
(./diary2.fo{/usr/share/texmf/pdftex/config/pdftex.cfg}
LaTeX2e 2001/06/01
Babel v3.7h and hyphenation patterns for american, french, ngerman, nohyphena
tion, loaded.
xmltex version: 2002/06/25 v1.9 (Exp):
(/usr/share/texmf/tex/xmltex/config/xmltex.cfg)
No File: diary2.cfg (/usr/share/texmf/tex/xmltex/passivetex/fotex.xmt)
(/usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/base/article.cls
Document Class: article 2001/04/21 v1.4e Standard LaTeX document class
(/usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/base/size10.clo))
(/usr/share/texmf/tex/xmltex/passivetex/fotex.sty
) (./diary2.aux) (/usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/cyrillic/t2acmr.fd)
(/usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/base/ts1cmr.fd)
(/usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/psnfss/t1ptm.fd) (./diary2.out) (./diary2.out)
INFO: Using normal, i.e. nonfrench-spacing in document
(/usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/psnfss/t1phv.fd)

! LaTeX Error: Something's wrong--perhaps a missing \item.

See the LaTeX manual or LaTeX Companion for explanation.
Type H return for immediate help.
 ...

l.2 ...2 hyphenation-remain-character-count=2
  Diary/fo:block/fo:block...

?
--- cut ---

However, I don't think this is related to bug #170477, #181444,
#184072 or #184086, because

a) the error is different

b) the source docbook file doesn't use orderedlist/itemizedlist.

It doesn't look like #234884 either.

For some reason, Geert cannot reproduce the problem, and I don't
understand why not. It occurs every time for me.

Brian This isn't the same file but the attached file demonstrates
Brian the same problem:

Hello,

I have not received any response. Does this indicate that you cannot
reproduce the problem, that you don't have time to debug it, or that
you didn't get my test file for some reason?

Thanks
