This is the kind of request that should be forwarded to and handled by the upstream developer. Unfortunately, upstream seems unreachable and fortune-mod development is blocked. As the (adopting) maintainer of fortune-mod I'm not willing of adding a formatting standard right now. Therefore, I'm tagging this bug as wontfix.
