Bug#315256: menu-xdg: do not updated until kill & restart menu

2006-05-31 Thread jh
I'll try your suggestion after work-time :

grep -irl emacs /usr/share/menu

2006-05-31 Thread jh
it is not in /usr/share/menu/* because my root account didn't show those entries.
probably my normal account contains them.
but not in .gnome, .gnome2 .gconf

umm...?

is there better way finding them without deleting under /home/*.
(whether if the same problem happens some days again?)

Try to search for files with emacs in their contents:   grep -irl emacs /usr/share/menuThis seems to be a different bug than the one originally submittedthough.  Bye,--Loïc Minier <

I want to know the origin of following bug :installed & already removed emacs-snapshot-gtk 1 about month ago.but I see debian -> apps -> editors -> emacs snapshot (gtk), emacs snapshot (text) every day.
although searching on /usr/share/menu/* /var/lib/menu-xdg/* could not find any *emacs* entries.`find`ing on / width -maxdepth 6 only showed me emacs key bind-like file in other packages.what's the problem, really do delete emacs-like(s) from my system!!

I installed Eclipse and it appeared in the Debian menu in my panel, it seems the bug is fixed.  Do you still get the bug?   Bye,--Loïc Minier <[EMAIL PROTECTED]

no longer I think of the bug, because the update problem was in gnome-panel, not in debian-menu system.and sometimes those updates not occurs as newly-installed package's .post_inst scripts do not launch menu-xdg update command.

Hello Jung-hoon,
menu-xdg update the XDG menu automatically, but gnome-panel fails to
notice the changes. Other windows manager check the timestamps of the
menufiles when you open the menu to see whether they need to update it.

So I reassign this wishlist item to gnome-panel

Thanks for using Debian!
Bill.

Bug#315256: menu-xdg: do not updated until kill & restart menu

2005-06-21 Thread Jung-hoon Han
Package: menu-xdg
Version: 0.2
Severity: wishlist

I am GNOME user. before using it I used some light-weight window
managers. there was debian menu system very highly updated, so loved
'menu'package.

But Now in GNOME, the GNOME menu item ('gnome-panel')s are not updated
until restart the gnome-panel. when GNOME was 2.8.x the debian 'menu'
would updated whenever I did package works(apt, dpkg install/remove).
although debian menu was supported as one of GNOME menu entry, the
update action was independant from GNOME.
But now in GNOME 2.10.x menu-xdg seems only to generate
GNOME(Free desktop.org) compatible menu items, Not update automatically.

I want the debian xdg menu could be updated without the intervention of
gnome-panel. :(
