Bug#315431: nut: mge-utalk stopped working with ESV8+ after upgrade

2005-06-27 Thread arnaud . quette
Hi Roberto,

After upgrading nut to 2.0.1-3, mge-utalk driver does not work anymore:
 ...

I've added a patch in 2.0.2[-pre1] that enhance support for
older MGE units, such as your ESV8+. To be sure, I've just
retested the final 2.0.2 with a ESV11+, and it worked fine.

I'm currently finishing to prepare 2.0.2 packages.
Meanwhile, you can also try MGE PSP for Linux,
which is a GUI based upon NUT. For more info :

Bug#315431: nut: mge-utalk stopped working with ESV8+ after upgrade

2005-06-22 Thread Roberto Lumbreras
Package: nut
Version: 2.0.1-3
Severity: normal

After upgrading nut to 2.0.1-3, mge-utalk driver does not work anymore:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# /lib/nut/mge-utalk -a mge
Network UPS Tools - MGE UPS SYSTEMS/U-Talk driver 0.81.0 (2.0.1)
Could not get multiplier table: using raw readings.
updateinfo: Cannot update system status

with -D a bunch of debug output (and I think useless) is displayed, but
no hint about the updateinfo error. If you need some debug output just
ask.

With strace I see a lot of EAGAIN:

...
17976 write(4, s, 1) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily
unavailable)
17976 write(2, Bypass Stat Ai\n, 17) = 17
17976 ioctl(4, TCFLSH, 0) = 0
17976 write(4, S, 1) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily
unavailable)
17976 write(2, Syst Stat Ai\n, 15) = 15
17976 ioctl(4, TCFLSH, 0) = 0
17976 write(4, B, 1) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily
unavailable)
17976 write(2, Batt Stat Ai\n, 15) = 15
...

UPS is a serial MGE Pulsar ESV8+ (mge-utalk driver)
I'm using a usb-serial dongle to connect it.

Going back to nut 1.4.3-2 (mge-utalk driver 0.81.0) it works ok.

Regars,
Roberto Lumbreras
