I don't used GNOME or KDE for the config. My original config file, was with
the 'Port' instruction uncommented, but I can't trace if it's an debian
update problem or a modifification by the other admin. I think that the
second option is the explanation.

That's strange... I didn't change Port definition of cupsd.conf in any
versions.
Have you ever modified your cupsd.conf by GNOME or KDE tool?

Bug#319602: cupsys: cupsd does not start anymore as of version 1.1.23-11

2005-08-31 Thread David Vernazobres
I get exactly the same problem after upgrading,
cupsd does not start anymore. There is no error msg by the init-script.
Calling cupsd manually yields the error msg
cupsd: Child exited on signal 15!

I get the following message in the logs /var/log/cups/error_log :
I [30/Aug/2005:12:08:02 +0200] Loaded configuration file
"/etc/cups/cupsd.conf"
X [30/Aug/2005:12:08:02 +0200] No valid Listen or Port lines were found
in the configuration file!

When I uncomment the line Port 631 in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf, everything
works again.

david

2005-07-23 Thread Michael Stilkerich
Package: cupsys
Version: 1.1.23-10
Severity: important

cupsd does not start anymore. There is no error msg by the init-script.
Calling cupsd manually yields the error msg
cupsd: Child exited on signal 15!

downgrading to cupsys to 1.1.23-10 makes cupsd work again.
