No, I had it there and got several questions per month,
at times even several per week, about it.

Bug#333326: Message belongs to README.Debian / debconf abuse

2005-10-11 Thread Gürkan Sengün

Package: devfsd
Version: 1.3.25-19
Severity: important

Please can you put the following message into README.Debian?

Devfs is not mounted on boot by default. To enable it, add the kernel
option "devfs=mount" to your boot loader configuration.

The default boot loader for Debian is lilo, it's configuration is in
/etc/lilo.conf and the option you have to change is "append=" (just add
"devfs=mount").

For further discussion and other ways to mount devfs read
/usr/share/doc/devfsd/README.Debian.

You might want to read the description of the devfsd package again if you
are unsure whether you need this at all.

Ignoring this message won't break your system break, devfsd will simply
not start.

Yours,
Gürkan
