2.1 is in Deep Maintenance mode.  Only Debian-packaging related bugs, or
sofware defects will be fixed, wishilist requests for new functionality in
the software itself will all be denied.

When I set the /etc/imapd.conf option
hashimapspool: false
it only works for the imap spool.

I think a global option or other options to prevent directory splitting
could be a good idea for small sites or sites that use modern file
systems.

hashdirs: false ?
OR
hashsievedir: false ?
hashconfdirs: false ?

mkfs.etx3 -O dir_index option and most file systems do not benefit from
directory splitting.  Some utilities, however may still have probs with
lots of files in a directory.
