Can you provide an URL where we can install this package
'by hand' ? The NEW queue does not seem to be available for
common users and the broken dependency with gnome is really
 annoying.

as was already explained, the URL for getting the packs as were uploaded
to NEW are at:

I don't have one to hand out, packages in NEW are not supposed to be
visible. However, you may want to build the source package yourself
with svn-buildpackage and the repository located at:
svn+ssh://svn.debian.org/svn/pkg-voip/openh323

Bug#353844: gnomemeeting: package does not install on etch, neither does it build

2006-02-21 Thread Peder Chr. Norgaard
Package: gnomemeeting
Version: 1.2.3-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

The package depends on a version of libopenh323 that is not available in
etch. Therefore it fails to install, and the consequences are pretty
dire: the packages gnome and gnome-desktop-environment fail to install,
too because of dependency on gnomemeeting.

This is the error message:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
gnomemeeting: Depends: libopenh323-1.18.0 (= 1.17.4) but it is not
installable
E: Broken packages

The library mentioned is not available in unstable, nor can it be found
in experimental.

I tried building from the source, but the sources also depends on
version (this time of libopenh323-dev) that isn't found anywhere.

Thank you for a quick answer. Now, I am a Debian user, not a developer,
so in NEW doesn't ring any immediate bell. But I guess it means that I
can expect the problem to go away in a few days?

best regards

Ok, I supposed you were used to Debian processes since you searched the
package in multiple likely locations already. The NEW queue is where
source packages adding a new binary packages are put on hold until a
ftpmaster reviews them (typically and in this case because the library
changes name, eg libfoo1 becomes libfoo2).

The NEW queue is visible at:
http://ftp-master.debian.org/new.html
