I think the solution is to add the temporary format build directory to
TEXINPUTS in fmtutil. Norbert, can you please check whether this
problem also exists in texlive - maybe there's already a fix from
upstream?
apt-get install jadetex
rm /var/lib/texmf/web2c/latex.fmt
fmtutil-sys --all tempfile
This does the following things:
- it creates all formats, including jadetex
- it spits out the stuff when generating the latex format
So I would say the same problem exists in TeX live.
