I can publish the debs if you want them, though it's simple to build them yourself. Thanks for the offer. I had also given backporting a try, and it built fine here, too. I could imagine that others would be intersted in your packages, though. Uploading them to backports.org would be great. I think I would stay with version 3.01 even if the version in sarge gets fixed, just because the background different from the 'paper' now. That really helps! cheerio ralf -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Package: xpdf-reader Version: 3.00-13.5 Severity: normal Viewing the attached PDF file with xpdf, the black background on the left side of the header and footer is missing. Hence, the white text written there is unreadable. In addition, on the first page the shadow below the title is missing. Both Acrobat Reader version 7.0.5 and gv with GPL GhostScript version 8.01 display this file correctly. cheerio ralf -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.10-thinkpad Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages xpdf depends on: ii xpdf-common 3.00-13.5 Portable Document Format (PDF) sui ii xpdf-reader 3.00-13.5 Portable Document Format (PDF) sui ii xpdf-utils3.00-13.5 Portable Document Format (PDF) sui Versions of packages xpdf-reader depends on: ii gsfonts8.14+v8.11+urw-0.2Fonts for the Ghostscript interpre ii lesstif2 1:0.93.94-11.4OSF/Motif 2.1 implementation relea ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libfreetype6 2.1.7-2.4 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libgcc11:3.4.3-13GCC support library ii libice64.3.0.dfsg.1-14sarge1 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libpaper1 1.1.14-3 Library for handling paper charact ii libsm6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14sarge1 X Window System Session Management ii libstdc++5 1:3.3.5-13The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libt1-55.0.2-3 Type 1 font rasterizer library - r ii libx11-6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14sarge1 X Window System protocol client li ii libxext6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14sarge1 X Window System miscellaneous exte ii libxp6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14sarge1 X Window System printing extension ii libxpm44.3.0.dfsg.1-14sarge1 X pixmap library ii libxt6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14sarge1 X Toolkit Intrinsics ii xlibs 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14sarge1 X Keyboard Extension (XKB) configu ii xpdf-common3.00-13.5 Portable Document Format (PDF) sui ii zlib1g 1:1.2.2-4.sarge.2 compression library - runtime -- no debconf information test.pdf.gz Description: test file

This seems to have been broken by a recent security update because it works correctly in 3.00-13 which was originally released with sarge. It works correctly in 3.01 which is in testing and unstable. If you can upgrade you will find this is already fixed.
