I just tried it here and it built fine. I can publish the debs if you
want them, though it's simple to build them yourself.

Thanks for the offer. I had also given backporting a try, and it built
fine here, too. I could imagine that others would be intersted in your
packages, though. Uploading them to backports.org would be great. I
think I would stay with version 3.01 even if the version in sarge gets
fixed, just because the background different from the 'paper' now. That
really helps!

Bug#354810: xpdf: PDF file incorrectly displayed

2006-03-01 Thread Ralf Stubner
Package: xpdf-reader
Version: 3.00-13.5
Severity: normal

Viewing the attached PDF file with xpdf, the black background on the
left side of the header and footer is missing. Hence, the white text
written there is unreadable. In addition, on the first page the shadow
below the title is missing. Both Acrobat Reader version 7.0.5 and gv
with GPL GhostScript version 8.01 display this file correctly.

Hi Ralf,

Thanks for your report. I confirm that this is a problem with 3.00-13.5.

This seems to have been broken by a recent security update because it
works correctly in 3.00-13 which was originally released with sarge.

It works correctly in 3.01 which is in testing and unstable. If you can
upgrade you will find this is already fixed.

Thanks,
Hamish

Grrr, that's bad.

I will try if I can backport the Etch packages to Sarge. Do you know if
anybody has tried that before? Unfortunately, there are no xpdf packages
at backports.org.
