Thomas I don't know where you got it, but its presence is the
Thomas reason you are having trouble upgrading initscripts.

So I am really confused.

I sent you already my sources.list file, I don't encounter anything
strange there.

No chance:

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:

Thomas What happens if you upgrade the mount package to a version
   Thomas = 2.11x-1?

Honestly I am little frighten to upgrade that package since it is
essential for the system. I thought apt-get would take care of
necessary upgrades and if it does not or cannot not than something
serious is broken

Well then the message which appears is at least confusing, since
it states Since you only requested a single operation it is
extremely likely that the package is simply not installable and
a bug report against that package should be filed.

Thomas What is the command that produces this message. Can you
Thomas please send a console log that shows it?

Sure it was a simple apt-get install initscripts
here is the output
