I just also encountered these assertion failures, with 0.6.5-1.
I never noticed them before but maybe they just slipped through...

the relevant log is:

eth0: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5705M Gigabit Ethernet controller
eth1: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter
eth0 is not connected, eth1 is using WPA
