Taylor Campbell (Riastradh) says mit-scheme should now work under
amd64 (and other arches?) using the native backend.  It'd be super if
this was enabled in debian/control so amd64 users could just do
aptitude install mit-scheme.

Not quite accurate.  There's now a working C back end that is portable
to all architectures.  This will be a new package, mit-scheme-c.  The
main holdup at this point is that I need time to do the packaging.
