Bug#375677: apt-proxy entirely broken

2006-07-24 Thread Simon Huggins
Chris apparently has new code but it's not in unstable yet.

Given apt-proxy is entirely broken it's perhaps worth mentioning that
apt-cacher does a similar job but it works in today's unstable.

I installed it today and once I added a sane path_map it worked fine and
in a similar way to apt-proxy.

Simon.

I really hope he can put it into unstable before it's too late for Etch,
in this state apt-proxy shouldn't be delivered with Etch.

Well, it only does part of the job. It doesn't cache older files, so
it's not usable as backup in case of broken unstable packages. Of
course there are alternatives, but I already had one or two occassions
where snapshot.debian.net didn't have a working old version.

Anyway I'm also happily using apt-cacher now, as I'm absolutely unable
to debug/fix the current problems in apt-proxy..

Andreas
