Bug#376951: Problems with Emacs fonts

2007-06-25 Thread Brice Goglin
Hi Vitalie,

Thanks for your followup to this bug. On your machine where the problem
occurs, could you check that you have xfonts-base installed? And could
you try again after removing all your .emacs* configuration? (checking
with another user account would be good).

If it does not help, please send the output of
/usr/share/bug/xserver-xorg/script 3>&1

Cheers,
Brice

Bug#376951: Problems with Emacs fonts

2007-06-08 Thread Vitalie Lazu

I have the same problem too.

I upgraded my system from sarge to etch, then i installed emacs, when i
started it s saw little squares instead of letter and in console there is a
warning message:
Warning: Cannot convert string
"-*-helvetica-medium-r-*--*-120-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1" to type FontStruct

i fixed it by adding below line to ~/.Xresource
Emacs*Font: -cronyx-fixed-bold-r-normal--16-120-100-100-c-80-koi8-r

$ xrdb -load .Xresource

On my laptop emacs was already installed when i migrated to etch and all it
was ok.

Hi,

About a year ago, you reported a bug to the Debian BTS regarding
problems with emacs fonts. Did you reproduce this problem recently? With
Xorg/Etch? If not, I will close this bug in the next weeks.

Thanks,
Brice

Bug#376951: Problems with Emacs fonts

2006-07-05 Thread Winfried Geis
Package: xorg
Version: 7.0.22

My Kernel Version:
uname -a:
Linux schizoid 2.6.15-pmobile20060210 #1 Fri Feb 10 18:29:02 CET 2006

Hello,

since I upgraded to the new xorg Version, my emacs font for text and
menu does not look very well, that means, that the text is nearly
unreadable and I have to choose some other font by hand every time.
Emacs looked quite nice before the upgrade.
Though I searched the bug tracking system I did not find anything
appropriate or it tells that the problem is already solved by upgrading
- - which did not work for me. This is what my Xorg.log looks like:
