Bug#380304: Bug #380304 (nut-usb: bcmxcp_usb does not find ups at bootup)
Hi again Sergio, 2006/12/20, Sergio Gelato <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: Sorry, I should have read the original bug report more carefully. You were probably right, and I should have opened two new bugs instead of piggying back on this one. My apologies. I'd still like that patch applied, if possible, since it does fix a known bug in nut-usb. ok, the bad news first: seems I'm still not awaken enough. I've mixed the udev problem with that one. Thus I've completely missed the integration of this patch in -3. The good news now: - this patch is included in nut 2.0.5, but there are few (no) chance to see it make its way into etch, - but I may release a -4 with some more init things (lsb compliance) and more things. No promise, but I'll do my best. Is this issue really fixed by using the native udev rules? I don't think so. The rules' only purpose is to change the ownership and permissions on the /{dev,proc}/bus/usb device files, and the bug (at least my interpretation of it; the original submitter's statement was vague) is reproducible when bcmxcp_usb is run as root.
