I would be happy, if you forward the patches to the GPM mailinglist [0]
or/and provide them via git, so they can be applied upstream.

In case there are changes that are not useful for upstream I would still
prefer to have a branch ubuntu-karmic or debian-unstable in the git
repo, to see what you're patching why.

Bug#384864: gpm can not be cross compiled

Version: 1.19.6-22
Severity: normal

Gpm can currently not be cross compiled. It compiles fine, but builds a
native package. This later makes other builds fail. Work is being done
upstream and is already in the git archive. It doesn't compile,though.
In the meantime please add a check if crosscompilation is attempted and
in that case fail.
