I tried removing the dependency on g++-3.4, thus defaulting to the
default compiler. It failed compiling (arch=powerpc) with a weird error.
All the build dependencies are installed.
So, at a first glance, this seems to be there for a reason (not that is
doesn't need fixing :-)
