It seems to be a problem in Gecko, only exposed when embedded in GTK; http://mail.gnome.org/archives/epiphany-list/2007-August/msg7.html Tshepang Lekhonkhobe, the similar bugs you have with gedit and meld are probably not related, please file reports about them separately.
