The problem is still present on the version of Rasmol with the old X11
interface ('rasmol-classic'). The GTK version was never affected.
The fix is probably simple, but needs the effort of someone with time
and motivation to find the code path in question.

If I remember correctly the rasmol-classic interface is deprecated
anyway. Is there any reason to provide this interface any more? IMHO
droping this interface would fix the bug and spending time on outdated
code does not make any sense to me.
