Bug#401595: performance regression in rxvt-unicode-ml with libx11-6 2:1.1-2

thanks

Jamey Sharp ja...@minilop.net (11/06/2007):
Even better, please try 2:1.1.2-1, which fixes an event-handling
spin that we thought might be related. IIRC we still saw more read
calls returning EAGAIN than I can explain, but I currently can't
reproduce any high CPU usage conditions with 1.1.2.

Bryan, ping?

Oh, wow, I don't even remember filing this bug anymore. Suffice it to
say I don't think I'll be able to test for it at this point... Feel
free to close the bug.

Thanks,

Bug#401595: performance regression in rxvt-unicode-ml with libx11-6 2:1.1-2

2007-04-12 Thread Brice Goglin
Hi Bryan,

There's a performance regression in libX11 1.1 caused by the fact libX11
now uses XCB. It would be interesting to see if your performance
regression disappears with libX11 1.1 without XCB. Michel built such
packages at http://people.debian.org/~daenzer/ a couple weeks ago. Could
try replacing your libx11* with those and let us know how good/bad the
performance is?

Also, you could try the new libx11* packages currently in experimental
(2:1.1.1-1 instead the 2:1.1-2 you had when reporting this bug) in case
something got fixed.

Thanks,
Brice

Bug#401595: performance regression in rxvt-unicode-ml with libx11-6 2:1.1-2

2006-12-04 Thread Bryan Donlan
Package: libx11-6
Version: 2:1.1-2
Severity: normal
Tags: experimental

When I upgrade to libx11-6 and attempt to use rxvt-unicode-ml, urxvt
seems to spin, causing high CPU usage and slow response time. stracing
the process shows a lot of:
read(5, 0x8184438, 4096)= -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily
unavailable)

Downgrading to libx11-6 in sid fixes the problem.
