Bug#404996: scponly: doesn't support rsync
Hi, I'll be uploading scponly-4.8 shortly, yet rsync support is still disabled. I have to look into why the security team disabled it in the first place. I'm working on it... Bug#404996: scponly: doesn't support rsync
I agree that this should have been patched in Debian long ago. I've been using Debian for almost 10 years now, and i don't recall running into a situation before where there was a patch available for a major bug for 15 months yet the maintainer was refusing to apply it. The fact that there has not been a new upstream version for 18 months now does not imply to me that one is coming soon it implies rather that one may never come... Thank you Luca for picking up the slack. Also, the severity of this bug should be set to 'important.' Inability to use rsync is a major loss of functionality. Regards, Steve Expecting? IMHO this is an important bug and it should have been fixed for etch, I use scponly with rsync in lots of system and it's a shame that the next Debian release won't have a working-with-rsync scponly. :( -- Isaac Clerencia at Warp Networks, http://www.warp.es Work: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | Debian: [EMAIL PROTECTED] pgp1ICVBnZ0gg.pgp Description: PGP signature
Bug#404996: scponly: doesn't support rsync
Hi! Dan Christensen wrote: Maybe Debian can include the patch? Dan I'd like to wait for upstream to include the patch (or release a new version of scponly). Since scponly 4.6 is already a year old, I expect a new version to become available soon. Tom -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#404996: scponly: doesn't support rsync
Package: scponly Version: 4.6-1 Severity: normal scponly 4.6 has a bug which causes it to reject rsync connection attempts with: scponly[9758]: option e is not permitted for use with /usr/bin/rsync (arg was rver)(username: backupitchy(1006), IP/port: 65.95.163.82 61183 22)) scponly[9758]: requested command (/usr/bin/rsync --server . /tmp) tried to use disallowed argument (username: backupitchy(1006), IP/port: 65.95.163.82 61183 22)) It is not parsing the long option --server correctly. I believe this patch fixes this problem: http://lists.rpmforge.net/pipermail/svn-commits/2006-March/003205.html There are about 15 relevant messages on the scponly mailing list, starting with this one: https://lists.ccs.neu.edu/pipermail/scponly/2006-March/001270.html Maybe Debian can include the patch?
