I think I've found the problem. There is a syntax error in
/usr/share/gcstar/lib/GCLang/IT/GCModels/GCfilms.pm .

The attached patch fixes the bug for me. I'd like to know if this works
for Marco and if this is related with bug #403069 too.

I was going to send you my config, when I noticed that there is a lang
parameter in the configuration file. Setting it to EN solves the
problem, reverting to IT makes gcstar crash again: so it is a locale
problem.

So, the problem seems to happen when the lang parameter is set
to it *and* the file parameter points to a collection.

Let me now if you need more details.

Ok, I attached them to the mail. I forgot to mention that I'm using
testing, so even if gcstar version is the same that the one in unstable,
there is a chance that if the bug is caused by some other dependency
maybe it has already been fixed.

Unfortunatly not, even with the lang parameter set to IT there is no problem. 
Gcstar comes up in italian with the previous opened collection. 

Can you provide me with your config and an output of the locale command?
