That's a joke, a reference to non-free games who give you free 'trial'
versions, but require you to pay when you want the full version.

Oh, I see :-) .

It *used* to work at some point.

I looked at the CVS repo Bruno pointed to, but I don't know where
the fix needs to be applied... (damn CVS for not having a history
per repo like SVN :-) ).

Bruno, could you, please, tell us specifically which files were
touched? That would help us a lot.

Wouter I can't access my PowerBook (now is at my parents) would you
be able to test the eventual patches on you powerpc machine?

Hello,

Unfortunately, the bug also results in a situation in about the third or
fourth level where it is impossible to finish the second stage; as a
result, the game sits there and it is impossible to complete it.

I can confirm this, I have seen it on my powerbook about a half a
yaer ago, but I thought that the game was not finished and is the
normal thing since I never played a working version.

Also, if I am not confusing things (sorry if I do and disregard this
paragraph, if so), I thought it was the normal behaviour because at
some point it says something about a trial version or something
like that.

Bug#411934: Misbehaves on PowerPC

2007-02-21 Thread Wouter Verhelst
Package: powermanga
Version: 0.80-dfsg-1
Severity: important

Hi,

Powermanga has three stages of gameplay per level: in the first, enemies
enter the screen one at a time (or in small groups in the higher
levels). In the second stage, many enemies enter the screen from above
in a formation, and shoot down towards the player. In the final stage,
inert objects along with enemies drop down from above and the player has
to destroy them (or they will destroy the player).

The first and the final stage of each level are okay; but the second
stage no longer works the way it should (it used to work about two years
ago, but I haven't been playing the game since quite a while, and just
now I discovered that it's broken).

It's hard to describe what exactly is going wrong, but at first glance
it would appear that some sort of timeout is not working as it should.
The exact failure mode differs between each level; however, it is
constant across different games.

Unfortunately, the bug also results in a situation in about the third or
fourth level where it is impossible to finish the second stage; as a
result, the game sits there and it is impossible to complete it.
