Same result. Nothing.

I conviced my client to trade the printer so I guess you can close this 
bug.

I tried foo2zjs from testing as well. In syslog, I see the firmware
load. In cups/error.log, I see the test page is sent to the printer.
However, the printer does absolutely nothing. The lights don't
blink. No error indication. Nothing.
