The following commands lead to a segfault in ffmpeg2theora:
printf "YUV4MPEG2 W720 H576 F25:1\n" > test ; dd if=/dev/zero bs=622080
count=250 >> test ; ffmpeg2theora test
Copy of output:

An empty output file is created.
In fact I can't seem to make it accept *any* yuv4mpeg raw data.
