I just had to install tetex-bin in a woody chroot (it still works), so
you've got a point. If you want, please file a separate bug - but don't
expect us to work on a patch until we're really bored.

Oh, I see you did, but the mail received me after the message
informing me the bug was closed. Never mind.

You didn't respond to my question asking whether the 5 year check
makes any sense. What if someone wanted to install a copy of current
Debian in 5 years? Unlikely, sure, but not impossible.

No, but why should we patch the upstream sources? It would just be
another source of errors, and the single bugreport we get per year
doesn't do much harm (but helps the reporter a bit...)

Does such a check make sense in a distro?

What's the output of "date" in the chroot?

In the code, it computes the difference between the system date as
pdfTeX sees it and the filedate 2005/12/01, and seems to find that it is
more than 5 years...

I've finished building 2007-5 on ARM now. Is there anything you want
me to check before I upgrade to the new version?

It would still be a RC bug which might be present in etch.

Someone will look at the log file later.

2007-04-23 Thread Martin Michlmayr
Package: texlive-base-bin
Version: 2005.dfsg.2-12

I just tried to upgrade my ARM's chroot from sid from a few weeks ago
to current etch and texlive-latex-base fails to install.

Unfortunately, the new texlive-base-bin is not available on ARM so I
don't know whether this has been fixed. I'll see whether I can build
the new version.
