Bug#434264: Unmet dependencies with both libglib1.2 and libglib1.2ldbl

2007-07-22 Thread Don Estberg
Package: libglib1.2
Version: 1.2.10-17
Severity: normal

This is an interdependency problem that I don't know is caused by
libglib1.2, but I chose this because it is somewhere in the middle.

I did an upgrade, and in the process my window manager, fvwm, was
uninstalled. When I try to install fvwm, I get:

# apt-get install fvwm/testing
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Selected version 1:2.5.21-1 (Debian:testing) for fvwm
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
fvwm: Depends: libglib1.2 (= 1.2.0) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libstroke0 (= 0.5.1) but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

When I try to install libstroke0 I get:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libstroke0: Depends: libglib1.2 (= 1.2.0) but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

When I uninstall libglib1.2ldbl and install libglib1.2, several other
things are uninstalled, including xmms, and when I try to install fvwm,
I get:

# apt-get install fvwm/testing
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Selected version 1:2.5.21-1 (Debian:testing) for fvwm
