I will let you know of the results. It seems that Amarok 2 does not have the feature to talk with PTP devices which was present in version 1.4. Consequently, I cannot reproduce this bug. PTP or MTP? Amarok 2 supports MTP. I guess another collection should appear near Local collection once MTP device is mounted. Ask on amarok user lists / #amarok on freenode.net for more info. Maybe the best is to archive this and, if Amarok 1.4 is uploaded to unstable (as somebody requested) or Amarok 2 provides this feature in the future then review it. I doubt this is going to happen (1.4 in unstable). -- Modestas Vainius modes...@vainius.eu signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.

After stumbled into http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/Media_Device:MTP I figured it might be because the user I was running the application with was not in the 'plugdev' group. I added the user and sure enougth, everything started working as expected. I've seen no mention of this needed either in Amarok's dialog boxes (it could provide hints as to why it does not find a device you *know* you have plugged in) and/or Amarok's README.Debian At the very least, the README.Debian file should confirm the need to add users to the 'plugdev' group (staticly? through an udev rule?) for MTP devices to work. Is this bug still valid with Amarok 2.1.1? I have no MTP devices, I can't test. -- Modestas Vainius modes...@vainius.eu signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.
