Bug#436153: incorrect use of parameter "create mask"

And, really, I would discourage reporting such "bugs" that are only
present in the samba version in etch while they're fixed in unstable
versions.

That will force us to do what Steve did for #436153: mark the bug as
fixed in whatever appropriate version which is in unstable and "found"
in the etch version. Then nothing more will happen and, in short, the
BTS for samba will become a little bit more cluttered, with no benefit
at all.

We have enough real bugs in the samba packages, we don't really need
more especially when these are bugs that will not benefit our upstream
because they already fixed them.

Until someone convinces the maitnainers that a security issue is
involved, I would say "no chance"

Bug#436153: incorrect use of parameter "create mask"

2007-08-05 Thread Patrick Loijens

Package: samba
Version: 3.0.24

In this version the parameter "create mask" is incorrectly used for
restricting rights on already created files, so chmod on an cifs mounded
share is blocked when trying to extend file permissions. See thread:

http://lists.samba.org/archive/linux-cifs-client/2007-January/001690.html

In current samba-releases this bug is corrected (see end of thread:
http://lists.samba.org/archive/linux-cifs-client/2007-January/001697.html )

Is there a chance of applying the patch to the mentioned debian version?

Regards,

Patrick Loijens
