Package: lvm-common Version: 1.5.20 Severity: important
For whatever reason /home could not be unmounted (actually a USB DVB-T tuner had gone awol and the process attached could not be killed, so that processes cwd could not be unmounted). vgchange hangs with the message 'Can't deactivate vol group "vg1" with 1 open logical volume'. It should time out, or give up. Just hanging is no good, the system isn't usable and you have to just power off which is a greater risk of data loss than just giving up and going to reboot. -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-hippo-5-686 Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages lvm-common depends on: ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-13etch2 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii module-init-tools 3.3-pre4-2 tools for managing Linux kernel mo Versions of packages lvm-common recommends: ii logrotate 3.7.1-3 Log rotation utility -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
