However, as soon as kill mixer_applet2 I get the same error back straight away and on next logon. Is mixer_applet2 meant to be running as a daemon or started some other way?? I suspect that might be the issue and maybe the gnome panel applet can't talk to it?? Ian

Weird that it works after everything is started but breaks on panel startup...

The panel encountered a problem while loading OAFIID:GNOME_MixerApplet. Do you want to delete the applet from your configuration?
