Bug#444867: util-linux: mount /lib/init/rw /proc and /sys with bad hours (localtime+2h)

The kernel only has one time... The modification time on the /proc and
/sys filesystems is never looked at by anything other than users.

So, in short, while the timestamp may be wrong on these directories, I
fail to see any bug that needs to be addressed, other than maybe
clarification for users...

Hi,

Thx for your quick answer.

What exactly are you seeing? That is, when you say 'but For these 3
mount : ... I get the localtime + 2 hours...'? Where are you seeing
that time?

When I do 'ls -l /', I see for these 3 mount localtime + 2 hours. For
example If I boot at 0h00, I will see 2h00 for this 3 mount. The others
are good.

The reason is simply because hwclockfirst.sh runs at 8, and mountkernfs
runs at 2. I'm unwilling to (and not sure we _can_) move
hwclockfirst.sh that early without understanding what part of the system
is misbehaving because of the difference.

Ok. But I am a little afraid that the /proc and /sys which 'talk' with
the kernel are not at the right time...

Bug#444867: util-linux: mount /lib/init/rw /proc and /sys with bad hours (localtime+2h)

2007-10-01 Thread giggz
Package: util-linux
Version: 2.13-7
Severity: normal

Hi,

I think I must report this bug to the package initscripts but I'm not sure...

My laptop is under SID. I have dual boot with windows. So my BIOS date is set
to localtime (bad...). In /etc/dafault/rcS I have UTC=no. With tzdata and so
tzselect I have choosen Europe/Paris (so UTC+2h). When I execute 'date', or
'date -u' or 'dpkg-reconfigure tzdata' I have the good localtime and the good
UTC time. All my clocks under E17 or GNOME give me the good time...So ok...but
For these 3 mount :
tmpfs on /lib/init/rw type tmpfs (rw,nosuid,mode=0755)
proc on /proc type proc (rw,noexec, nosuid, nodev)
sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw,noexec, nosuid, nodev)

I get the localtime + 2 hours...
When I type mount I get that :
/dev/hda1 on / type ext3 (rw,errors=remount-ro)
tmpfs on /lib/init/rw type tmpfs (rw,nosuid,mode=0755)
proc on /proc type proc (rw,noexec, nosuid, nodev)
sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw,noexec, nosuid, nodev)
udev on /dev type tmpfs (rw,mode=0755)
tmpfs on /dev/shm type tmpfs (rw,nosuid, nodev)
devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,noexec,nosuid,gid=5,mode=620)
fusectl on /sys/fs/fuse/connections type fusectl (rw)
/dev/hda6 on /home type ext3 (rw)
/dev/hda4 on /donnees type ext3 (rw)
nfsd on /proc/fs/nfsd type nfsd (rw)

I test all the mount points, and all others that these three are in good time...

So If you have an idea to fix it (without change my BIOS time...)...

Thx for your great work!
Regards,
Guillaume
