Bug#458568: xserver-xorg-video-intel: random crashes seems caused by intel driver

2008-02-09 Thread Apelete Seketeli
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel
Version: 2.2.0.90-3
Hardware: Thinkpad X60 w/ Intel GMA950

I don't know what's going on with the intel driver since xorg 1.4 have been
introduced, but the crashes are still happening.
Got a lockup once more, a few minutes after logging in, I wasn't using any
video application, just reading some documentation in Epiphany...

Multiple people (including me) are seeing problems like this. It's very
hard to know whether we are seeing the same bug. And I didn't see much
help coming from upstream about this recently. The only workaround that
helped some people was to add
Option FramebufferCompression false
to subsection Device. Apart from that, you can't do much but wait (or
try to find an easy way to reproduce the lockup and report it on the
upstream bugzilla...)

I tried to revert to 2.1.1-4 and no more random crashes.
2.2.0-1 isn't usable for me.

Can you please try git head, and if that still doesn't work bisect which
change broke it?

Thanks,
Julien

Bug#458568: xserver-xorg-video-intel: random crashes seems caused by intel driver

2008-01-01 Thread Fathi BOUDRA
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel
Version: 2:2.2.0-1
Severity: important

  Hi,

I have experienced some random crash of my laptop and it seems caused
by the intel driver. When I switch to vesa driver, I don't have the
  crashes anymore.

I can reproduce it quickly by running glxgears. glxgears runs some
seconds with visual glitches, then locks with:
  intelWaitIrq: drmI830IrqWait: -16

After glxgears crash, the complete desktop contains glitches and
  finally the laptop crashes too.

I'm up for suggestions to determine if it's really the intel driver
  that causes this crash.

  cheers,

  Fathi
