After some thought and consideration, I have decided not to try to fix
this bug unless upstream does it, the reason being that flickcurl is
more of a raw interface to the Flickr API as opposed to a utility,
so this automation needn't be done with it, IMO.

Thanks.

Bug#461848: flickcurl-utils: should not be required to specify auth_token

2008-01-21 Thread Y Giridhar Appaji Nag
Package: flickcurl-utils
Version: 1.0-1
Severity: important

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

The flickcurl command line program requires a valid auth_token in
~/.flickcurl.conf (one that corresponds to the api_key and secret in
~/.flickcurl.conf).

auth_token can be derived from the api_key and secret and should not be
required.

I am marking the Severity of this bug as important because it is not
possible to use flickcurl without the auth_token and generating a valid
auth_token with the api_key and secret is non-trivial (it is better done
by the utility rather than the person using the utility).

Pretty much every other flickr API toolkit (postr, flickrfs etc.)
computes the auth_token given the api_key and secret.

As I am away at the moment, I can't look into this. However, I shall
try to handle this next week.

Thanks for the report.
