Bug#466315: newsbeuter: Bloglines feeds don't synchronize

2008-02-17 Thread John Halton
Package: newsbeuter
Version: 0.7-3
Severity: important

Bloglines synchronization doesn't appear to work.

I've enabled bloglines synchronization, including setting
bloglines-auth with my Bloglines user name and password. However, when
I then start newsbeuter, instead of getting a list of feeds whose
unread items can then be accessed, I get a list consisting of entries
in the following form for items that have not yet had any unread
items:

http://[username]:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/getitems?s=[feed_number]

and for those that have (or have had) unread items, the name of the
feed appears, but the unread items themselves do not get listed and
are not accessible. Selecting the feed results in an error message
saying Error: Feed contains no items!

The first issue (concerning items which have had no unread items) is
understandable (albeit annoying) and probably unavoidable, as
Bloglines only generates a blank feed for those items. It's the second
issue (inability to access unread feeds which I know are there) which
is the real problem, and which appears to make the Bloglines
synchronization feature completely unusable (hence the important
tag).

Thanks,

John

If you're able to downgrade to a 0.18.x version of libmrss, then do so.
That should fix your problem. A couple of bugs with similar symptoms
have already been reported, and have been reassigned to libmrss:
 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?pkg=libmrss;dist=unstable

Thanks - will give that a try (if I can find a copy of a 0.18.x
package) or else will wait for a fix to libmrss0.

John

nion, could you please reassign this bug to libmrss, too, and emphasize
how important it is to fix this issue? Three reports concerning this
libmrss breakage already went in at Debian, and I really wonder what the
dark figure of users who don't report bugs and swear at newsbeuter
instead is...
