In particular:
** vncsnapshot has an unsatisfied dependency: vnc-common
** xtightvncviewer has an unsatisfied dependency: vnc-common
These two would pick up the then virtual package, but policy wants a
non-virtual alternative, so you would want to file bugs here.

** tightvncserver has an unsatisfied dependency: vnc-common (=
3.3.6-1)

** x2vnc has an unsatisfied build-dependency: libvncauth-dev

Please provide (a transitional package?) vnc-common from another
source package or update/file removal requests for the reverse
dependencies. In particular, versioned dependencies do not work on
virtual packages.

Kind regards

T.

Oh! I was not aware of that package. However it should be easy to fix
by either including the vncpasswd file in vncsnapshot (it is normally a part)
or depend on vnc4-common, or even on tightvncserver that now have that
function.

 ** xtightvncviewer has an unsatisfied dependency: vnc-common
Yes, that has been solved by the latest upload today.

Yes that is true. I will do that.

 ** tightvncserver has an unsatisfied dependency: vnc-common (=
 3.3.6-1)

Solved as well today.

 ** x2vnc has an unsatisfied build-dependency: libvncauth-dev

Oh! How did I miss that. I probably just looked at the runtime dependencies.
I will solve that as well. It should be easy as I'm the maintainer there
as well. :)

Ok, I will solve that problem and inform you when done.

For the future: Login to merkel, run dak rm -nR $sourcepackage and you
see such things. :)

mrvn Anyone with a cdrw/dvdrw drive up for some crazy experiments? Ever
   noticed how the color changes when you burn something on a CD/DVD?
   Are there ways to control it? I want ISOPAINT: Paint pictures into an
   iso image visible after its burned to cd/dvd.
doogie interesting idea
doogie how long have you been off your medication?

Bug#469247: remove vnc

2008-03-03 Thread Ola Lundqvist
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: wishlist

Hi

I'm the maintainer of vnc, vnc4 and tightvnc. I have now decided to
drop the support for the old vnc 3 version. It has not been maintained
upstream for ages (about 6 years) and a vnc version 4 is available and
maintained by me. There are some minor transitions needed but I will
likely handle that before you have time to remove the package.

Packages built by vnc sources:
 * vncserver
 * libvncauth0
 * libvncauth-dev
 * xvncviewer

Thanks a lot for your help.

Best regards,

// Ola
