Bug#471117: [Pkg-xfce-devel] Bug#471117: xfprint4: the BSD-LPR interface doesn't find any printer

Doing what? - the print queue is only found with lpr so, xfprint4-manager is only able to remove jobs from the lpr queue As I already said, I'm not sure lprng is even supported :) Then the upstream bug referenced before remains and I think that the segfault problem is result of my odd configuration (needs verification). A sampler error message is welcome, anyway. Yeah, if you can provide a backtrace or something like that... In any case, the initial bug is solved with the new package, so if you have more issues I propose to clone the bug and stop commenting on this one. The common location of the printcap file is under /etc not /usr/etc... to put a link to the right file on the searched path solves the problem but the right solution is to make it open the right file (/etc/printcap). Hmhm, it seems that xfprint4 may have a problem with lprng queues [0]. Could you try with pure lpr and report back? I don't have a working printer here, so I really can't reproduce. [0]: http://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=779 I tried with the lpr package and the same thing happens: the printer is found with a link /usr/etc/printcap - /etc/printcap; w/o link, w/o printer. I did some more experimentation and I found that the xfprint4 print dialog segfaults kernel: xfprint4[11295]: segfault at 0004 eip 08051002 esp bfe42990 error 4 when I try to print with it (this looks new for me) but I can control the print queue with the xfprint4-manager. Only the printer is found with lprng (no job appears -- this looks like the problem reported in [0]) and xfprinf4 still segfaults kernel: xfprint4[12298]: segfault at 0004 eip 08051002 esp bfed29b0 error 4 Cheers, -- ,-. rollingbits -- [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] \`' [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] ` Get my public GPG key in http://rollingbits.tripod.com/mykey.html signature.asc Description: Digital signature
