Summarized: i have the same problem with my sony vaio, altough i think i
saw it notifying me that the battery was low again yesterday. It did not
hibernate the machine though, as i configured it.

Indeed, the interfaces had changed in 2.6.24 the acpi stuff
for battery moved to the sysfs interface. So this is no
kernel bug but a bug in xfce4-battery-plugins that also
affect a bunch of acpi tools in Debian.
Reading http://www.corsac.net/?rub=blog&post=1400 this
should work in xfce4-battery-plugin 0.5.0-6.

Cheers
Nico

Bug#474966: ACPI seems to have changed interface

2008-04-08 Thread Andreas Tille
Package: linux-image-2.6.24-1-686
Version: 2.6.24-5
Severity: normal

Hi,

since I started using linux-image-2.6.24-1-686 xfce-battery-plugin
just reports 0% load of my laptop battery even if fully charged.
This does not happen with linux-image-2.6.22-1-686. I tried several
versions of xfce-battery-plugin package that worked in the past
with every other kernel. That's why I'm guessing something changed
in ACPI or any other related things that report battery status.

I know that this report is a little bit vague and I'd be happy
to report more details if you tell me what might be helpful.

Kind regards and thanks for maintaining Debian Linux kernel

   Andreas.
