I have the same problem. I launch xtightvncviewer 1.3.9-4 with the -listen option, but when I try to connect using UltraVNC 4.10.0.1, the console shows the message "Connected to RFB server, using protocol version 3.8", and no window appears. There isn't any VPN or firewall involved.
I built v1.3.10 from source, and keep seeing the same problem. I ended up installing v1.2.9-21 from stable, which works fine. Has this bug been reported upstream?
