 Few tips for installing Debian-based distros on Abit IP35 motherboard:
 Use sata ports 5 and 6, if you have sata devices. Otherwise you have to use
 irqpoll argument in grub to boot up the machine.

Could you try a daily built image and see if that last issue is still
present?  It might be solved in the more recent kernel (2.6.26) that it
uses.

OK.

I tried this:
 Debian GNU/Linux testing Lenny - Official Snapshot i386 NETINST
  Binary-1 20080901-09:34

Now I can boot without using irqpoll with other sata ports than 5 and 6 (I
used 1 and 2). So it seems to be fixed.
So far the only distro that has worked without irqpoll and with any sata
port combination has been Slackware (2.6.24.5).
