Bug#499528: kate: some Vietnamese characters not displayed when utf-8 encoding is selected
tags 499528 + unreproducible moreinfo thanks Hi, you reported http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=499528 some time ago, however, I wasn't able to reproduce the problem and therefore need some additional information. Can you please tell me what font you use in kate? Your problem looks like it's related to the used font (a square normally tells that the font does not contain the letter). Also, if you have a newer version of kate at hand (especially from KDE SC 4.x), I'd appreciate if you verify the bug is still present. Sorry Eckart, but it has been most of two years since I have been in Vietnam, and tried to type Vietnamese. I do not even have a Vietnamese environment to play with here anymore. Bug#499528: kate: some Vietnamese characters not displayed when utf-8 encoding is selected
Package: kate Version: 4:3.5.9.dfsg.1-5 Severity: normal On this page http://blog.langex.net/index.cgi/Vietnam/dsl_broadband.html you will find some Vietnamese words on the first two bulleted lines on the subject of account ID and password. I edited this pyBlosxom blog entry using kate. When I pasted the Vietnamese words into kate (with utf-8 encoding selected) all of the letter 'a' with the additional markings on them, four in all, were rendered as little boxes in kate. The only 'a' that was visible was the unmarked one in the word 'ban'. As you can see from the final web page, the characters stored in the text file are correct. kate's rendering is not. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages kate depends on: ii kdelibs4c2a 4:3.5.9.dfsg.1-6 core libraries and binaries for al ii libc6 2.7-13 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgcc1 1:4.3.1-9GCC support library ii libqt3-mt 3:3.3.8b-5 Qt GUI Library (Threaded runtime v ii libstdc++6 4.3.1-9 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 Versions of packages kate recommends: ii kregexpeditor 4:3.5.9-2 graphical regular expression edito Versions of packages kate suggests: ii aspell 0.60.6-1 GNU Aspell spell-checker ii ispell 3.1.20.0-4.4 International Ispell (an interacti pn kate-plugi none(no description available) ii khelpcente 4:4.0.0.really.3.5.9.dfsg.1-5 help center for KDE ii konsole4:3.5.9.dfsg.1-5 X terminal emulator for KDE -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
