Sorry forgot the attach. Also, apologies for the bug expiring but I don't always get to
these as quickly as I'd like.
I noticed it with a wide variety of files. Attached is a simple file.
I open it from the command line. The cursor starts at the far left. I
hold shift and press End. It then correctly selects the math and the
text after it. Without releasing shift, I type leftarrow. It deselects
everything.
Now I hit HOME then LEFT, to get back to the start. Pressing RIGHT once,
I get inside the math expression. From there, I can hold SHIFT and hit
End. The result is correct, it selects all the math but not outside it.
Still holding shift, hit LEFT. Instead of deselecting one char, it again
loses all selection.
I also notice that I can no longer use arrow keys in just plain files
without math mode, to do selection with SHIFT. In that I was in the
middle of a set, upgraded everything for an unrelated reason, restarted
LyX, and the problem started, I'm quite certain the behavior changed.
It seems that SHIFT + home/end works just fine but the arrows don't.
Let me know if you need anything else to reproduce it.

The Debian package version 1.6.0-1. I guess if you can't reproduce it
don't worry about it.
I know the package version (but have no machine to try it out, and
doubt that such a behaviour would be caused by the debian packaging
which has an excellent quality). I meant the precise key strokes you
did and the formula you were working on. I would not be surprised if
your problem would only occur with certain input.
